A LLANELLI resident has been prosecuted for dumping waste in the street behind her home.
Twenty five-year-old Heather Atkinson pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates Court to an offence under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and was fined £102 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £400. The prosecution was brought by Carmarthenshire County Council.
Miss Atkinson, of Burry Street, had been issued with a £75 fixed penalty notice for dumping black bin bags and other items behind the street last August.
She told environmental enforcement officers that she had made arrangements to have the waste taken away but the person had not turned up. After agreeing to have the waste removed she was issued with the fixed penalty. She failed to pay and was prosecuted.
