Armed police: Outside Asda on Monday

A NUMBER of firearms officers responded to a report of people armed with what appeared to be a gun outside Asda in Llanelli yesterday (Apr 17).

The incident, which was captured on film by one member of the public, appears to show police surrounding a group of men who were on their knees facing a wall.

Confirming that two people have been arrested and remanded in custody, a spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police stressed that no members of the public were threatened or harmed during the incident.

“Dyfed-Powys Police responded to a report of people holding what appeared to be a gun on Copperworks Road, Llanelli,” they said. “The call was received at approximately 4.30pm on Monday.

“Firearms officers approached the group outside the Llanelli Asda store. An object was recovered and is currently being examined.

“Two men have been arrested on suspicion of possession of imitation firearms and remain in police custody pending further investigation.”
