Who could win this year’s MVP?

With the playoff picture in both the AFC and NFC starting to take shape, attentions are now starting to turn to who might win this year’s MVP.

With each passing season, the MVP race seems to be taking on more significance. Not only has MVP betting become hugely popular, but it’s regularly discussed on all our favorite sports shows.

This year is not proving itself, and some of the biggest names in the NFL find themselves in contention for the award this year. According to usalegalbetting you can find the best sites to place any MVP bets,  and you can be sure that the race to be the best player of the year should heat up over the next few weeks.

So, who is contention to write their name into NFL folklore? We breakdown the leading contenders for this year’s honour.

Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes has won the MVP on two separate occasions and is seriously in the reckoning to win it for a third time.

At the time of writing, Mahomes has helped the Kansas City Chiefs to a 7-2 record, and they currently sit atop of the AFC standings.

Worryingly for the rest of the league, despite the Chiefs looking like a dominant force once again, Mahomes is still to hit top gear.

This season he has thrown seventeen touchdowns but has combined these with eight interceptions. At points this season his play has been patchy and he has played poorly in defeats to both the Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions.

With a tough set of games to close out the regular season, the Chiefs will have to work hard to end the year as the AFC’s number one seed. If they do secure home field advantage, you can be rest assured that Mahomes will be the leading candidate for the MVP title.

Lamar Jackson

Fresh off the back of his five-year $260 million contract, it’s been fantastic to see Lamar Jackson bounce back to the form that saw him win the MVP back in 2019.

Jackson has looked efficient throwing and running the ball and has helped guide the Ravens to a 7-3 record.

Surrounded by the talents of Mark Andrews, Odell Beckham, Gus Edwards and more – this Ravens team is loaded and will be hoping to end the regular season as the top dogs in the AFC. With a bit to find with Mahomes, Jackson will be hoping to end the season strongly and win his second MVP title.

Jalen Hurts

Had it not been for an injury that ruled him out of a few games towards the end of last season, Jalen Hurts may have won last year’s MVP.

Putting the heartache of losing in last year’s Super Bowl clearly behind him, Hurts and this talented Philadelphia Eagles squad look ideally placed to return to the promised land.

Currently sitting atop of the NFC with an 8-1 record, Hurts has comfortably looked like the best quarterback in the NFC and the Eagles look well placed to seal home advantage for a second successive year.

Over the next few weeks, the Eagles will play the toughest part of their schedule with games against the Chiefs, Bills, 49ers and Cowboys. If they can come through that difficult stretch unscathed, he will have a strong chance of winning this year’s MVP title.

Tua Tagovailoa

Tua Tagovailoa entered this season with questions to answer over both his form and fitness, but through the first ten weeks of the NFL season he has put those questions firmly to bed.

Despite making a huge leap, Tua and the Dolphins have come unstuck against the three quality opponents they have faced. If Tua is to cap off a tremendous year and win this year’s MVP, you feel that he and the Dolphins may need to run the table.

Dak Prescott

After being dominated by the San Francisco 49ers back in Week 5, few would have seen the level of play that Dak Prescott has gone onto produce.

Clearly confident spearheading Dallas’s new look offence, through his last four games Prescott has played like a man possessed and leads the NFL in both QBR and touchdowns. Becoming the first Dallas Cowboy to throw for over 400 yards on multiple occasions, the Cowboys look well placed to make a late charge for the NFC East title.

Defeats against the 49ers and Eagles have led many to believe that Prescott and the Cowboys are flat track bullies, but if they can beat the Eagles, Bills and Dolphins, Prescott could well end this season as the MVP and put the Cowboys in a position to win their first Super Bowl since 1995.
