Emily Ruth Black
While studying at the University of Virginia School of Law, Robert met his first wife Emily Ruth Black. The pair tied the knot in the year 1982. They exchanged their vows on April 3, 1982. During their marriage, Emily Ruth and Kennedy Jr. welcomed two kids together: son Robert Francis “Bobby” Kennedy III (born in 1984) and daughter Kathleen Alexandra (‘Kick’) Kennedy (born in 1988).
Kennedy Jr. and Emily parted ways in 1992 and they divorced two years later in 1994. During a 1996 interview with New York magazine, Black spilled the beans on her relationship with the nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy. As per Opoyi, at that time, she said, “He’s a wonderful father, but he’s not a faithful husband.” Despite their separation, the two of them have continued to be on friendly terms.
Soon after his 1994 split from his first wife Emily Ruth Black, Robert moved on in his life with Mary Richardson. He wasted no time and said, “I do” again, this time to Mary Richardson in April of the same year. They got married aboard a research vessel on the Hudson River. They had 4 children: Conor Richardson Kennedy, Kyra LeMoyne Kennedy, William Finbar ‘Finn’ Kennedy, and Aidan Caohman Vieques Kennedy.
It has been reported that Kennedy’s second marriage to Mary Richardson was unlike his first marriage. The pair didn’t have marital issues. They announced their split after nearly 16 years of marriage in the year 2010. Robert filed for divorce from Mary, nearly 3 days after she was arrested for drunk driving.
Mary and Robert’s divorce got finalized on May 12, 2010. Nearly 2 years later, on May 16, 2012, Richardson was found dead in a building on the grounds of her home in Mount Kisco, New York. Then, the Westchester County Medical Examiner deemed her death as suicide by asphyxiation from hanging.
Kennedy Jr. and his third wife, actress-director Cheryl Hines who is known for starring in the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm, were reportedly introduced by her co-star Larry David and they started dating in 2012. The two of them got hitched on August 2, 2014, at the Kennedy compound on Cape Cod. They have been together ever since then.
Before striking a romance with Robert, the A Tale of Two Wives actress was married to Paul Young, founder of the management firm Principato-Young. The pair tied the knot in 2002. The exes who share a daughter named Catherine Rose Young filed for divorce in 2010 after 8 years of marriage.
