Published

on

WITH just over two months before Christmas, now’s the time to start thinking about wonderful ways to entertain the family in the run up to the festive period. Thanks to a new selection of days out and discounts from Boundless, worth up to £245*, it’s easy for people to make the most of their free time with family and friends for so much less.

Added to the club’s already impressive roster of activities, getaways, holidays, group activities and savings are four new deals that promise to inject much-needed affordable and magical moments into everyone’s lives after a tough couple of years.

Darren Milton at Boundless said: “We’re thrilled to be able to offer our Llanelli members new fun and inventive ways to enjoy the precious time they spend away from work and with their families and friends.

“Our members have been working especially hard over the past 24 months, and we want to give them the chance to switch off and make memories with the people that matter to them most.”

The four new offers are included in the overall Boundless membership deal, which is open to all public sector employees and civil servants, working and retired, for just £29 a year.

They include access to the expansive WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre in Carmarthenshire, and other sites throughout the country, at no additional cost, thanks to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, which offers complimentary family admission to include the member plus an adult guest and up to six children.

Members also have 12-month access to Kids Pass, which offers 2,000+ savings at a wide range of days out including zoos, aquariums and all the major theme parks with ‘kids eat free’ offers too.

Taking everyone out for a delicious meal needn’t mean forking out over the odds either. Thanks to Dine, there are impressive discounts – such as 50% off and 241 on mains – for all members at thousands of restaurants and coffee shops nationwide, including several throughout Llanelli, with a focus on local, quality, independent venues.

For those travelling further afield, what could be better than a trip to the magical Kew Gardens in Southwest London or Wakehurst in West Sussex? All Boundless members can take advantage of unlimited complimentary admission to both venues, plus 50% off for an adult guest per member, and free entry for up to five children. To get ahead with the Christmas shopping, there’s also a 10% discount at the onsite and online gift shops.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore Kew’s 320 acres of flora and fauna and Wakehurst’s 500 acres of diverse woodland, and to experience the beauty of nature with the whole family while learning about biodiversity and the work that this organisation does to protect the Earth’s delicate ecosystem.

Published

on

HYWEL DDA University Health Board (HDUHB) has extended the free shuttle bus service between Llanelli town centre and the mass vaccination centre in Dafen to help people access their COVID-19 vaccination as easily as possible.

The shuttle bus, provided by Dolen Teifi , will continue to run between 10.30am to 4.40pm, seven days a week. Please note there will be no service at 12pm from town or at 12.15pm from the mass vaccination centre to allow the drivers a lunch break.

People can board the shuttle bus on the hour and at half-past the hour at Church Street, outside Llanelli Magistrates Court SA15 3AW. The shuttle bus will leave the mass vaccination centre quarter past and quarter to the hour, returning to the town centre and dropping passengers off opposite Llanelli library.

Bethan Lewis, Interim Assistant Director of Public Health for Hywel Dda UHB, said: “We need as many people as possible attending their COVID-19 vaccine appointments, or dropping in if eligible.

“This shuttle bus service is one of many additional resources and services being put in place across the Hywel Dda region to help support more people to receive their COVID-19 vaccination. I am pleased the shuttle bus service has been extended to help people reliant on public transport to access their COVID-19 vaccine.”

On February 21, 2022, the JCVI published a statement, recommending an additional spring booster.

Strict COVID-19 safety measures will be in place to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers on this service:

  • All passengers and drivers must wear a face covering, unless medically exempt
  • A maximum of 14 passengers will allowed per journey
  • A screen will be in place between driver and passengers
  • Passengers should only use this service if they are fit and well on the day

Before travelling without an appointment to Dafen mass vaccination centre, we advise checking the health board’s website for up-to-date information such as vaccine eligibility and drop-in opening times  https://hduhb.nhs.wales/covid19-vaccination

This legendary Welsh venue has been hosting soirées since the early 1900’s and the venue had a full refit at the start of 2022. It now features brand new state of the art sound, lighting and decor, and a new exclusive first floor mezzanine bar for those who like a more intimate experience. The sound and lighting are the best that Wales has to offer and no expense has been spared.

Friday 15th features a night of brit pop brilliance, courtesy of The Oasis Experience, the number one Oasis tribute act on the planet. These guys are the real deal. Alan McGee, Oasis’ Manager and all round music genius said of The Oasis Experience: “these guys are the best Tribute to Oasis in the world!, in fact I’ll go one better, they’re better than the real Oasis!”

High praise indeed! The band have a stalwart reputation of pleasing hoards of fans with their much loved, groundbreaking brit rock/pop sound that truly defined a generation. This is not a night to be missed!

The Gallery Yr Oriel presents new body of work by Clare Rose

Published

on

THIS outstanding new body of work by Clare, is one of her hugely inspiring collections of some 30 years of intermittent painting and study-painting experiences.

Originally a self taught painter, Clare gained a first and distinction in BA and MA Fine Art degrees at Aberystwyth University, where she taught for many years.

Clare’s work is available between April 8 – 29

The rhythms of the Pembrokeshire seasons, its landscape and coastline, and in particular the arrival of Spring are the inspiration for many of the paintings, sketching ‘en plein air’ whenever possible, then developing the paintings in the studio.

Many of these paintings explore abstract approaches that reflect a deeper, and more ‘felt’ personal experience, and are an invitation to the viewer to share and creatively reinterpret these sensations.

This exhibition is a must see, no pre-booking required, we would love to see you at the launch on Friday 8th April from 5 – 7pm for refreshments, and the show will be running for three weeks.

No pre-booking required to view the outstanding new body of work
