Another series based on the Star Wars saga is headed to Disney+. After the huge success of The Mandalorian, Andor, and The Book of Boba Fett, a limited live-action series based on Ahsoka is arriving on the platform.
Lucasfilm has now released the first teaser for the show, which revolves around Ahsoka trying to save the galaxy from an unprecedented threat. Continue reading to watch the teaser and know everything about the series.
Ahsoka: Teaser Trailer and Release Date
The teaser was launched at the Star Wars Celebration in London on April 7th. It shows the exiled Jedi Ahsoka Tano, along with the OG Rebels, including Sabine Wren, Jedi Padawan Ezra Bridger, droid Chopper, and revolutionary leader Hera Syndulla. The teaser also glimpses at the arrival of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is speculated to be the new heir to the Empire.
Disney+ has announced the release timeline for the show as August 2023; however, the exact release date has not been revealed yet. The number of episodes in the series has also been kept under wraps for now. However, it is known that the show will follow a weekly schedule like the previous Star Wars-based shows on the platform.
The Show will Focus on Ahsoka Locating the Missing Ezra Bridger
In the Star Wars saga, Ahsoka is an exiled Jedi who worked under Anakin before he became Darth Vader. The show will focus on her mission to find Ezra Bridger, who disappeared a few years ago, along with Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Lead star Rosario Dawson has teased that the series will have a lot of surprises for the audiences. “I’m blown away. We’ve got some great surprises for all of you, but today is really special because I’m excited to see some footage — finally! I’m like, ‘If it’s not today, when!’” she said at the teaser launch.
“We are completely immersed almost all the time. The level of detail is remarkable. Even the last day, the light sabers turn on and we’re in the world. It’s only been three weeks since my heart stopped racing. I wake up every morning thinking I need to be doing something,” she added.
Ahsoka: Star Cast
Dawson, who appeared as Ahsoka in The Mandalorian, will be repairing her role in the spin-off series. The show will also star Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ray Stevenson as Baylan, David Tennant as Huyang, and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.
“Embodying a character, literally, physically, every single day, has brought on a whole other level of experience to working on a project and bringing a character to life. It’s changing me. So often, I take pieces from a character, and then I inject so much of myself in to things of my own experience and what I have to draw from,” Dawson said of her character.
The series is created by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. It serves as a standalone sequel to the animated show Star Wars Rebels and takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983). The show is produced by Lucasfilm, with Favreau, Filoni, and Kathleen Kennedy serving as executive producers.
