Brie Larson is back as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, and to make things more exciting, she has the company of Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel. The superhero trio will be seen in Marvel Studios’ new outing, The Marvels.
The film acts as a direct sequel to the 2019 film Captain Marvel and is overall the 33rd film in the MCU. A teaser trailer for the film has now been launched, which shows the three powerful ladies uniting to fight a common enemy.
The Marvels Teaser Trailer Unites Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan
The teaser starts off with Rambeau on a space mission while on a call with Nick Fury. However, she is soon sucked into a different dimension and is swapped with Khan. The clip introduces the unique concept of how the lives of the three ladies get entangled, and they end up swapping their places as soon as they use their powers.
Apart from the highly-awaited reentry of Nick Fury in the MCU, the trailer also shows Khan’s daily, last seen in the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. There is also Danvers’ cat Goose, who is seen swallowing enemies with her Flerken powers. The Marvels will be released in cinemas on November 10. Check out the trailer below.
Kevin Feige Compared the Film to The Avengers
In an earlier interview this year, Marvel head Kevin Feige compared The Marvels to the 2012 hit The Avengers. “There’s something immensely powerful about seeing Monica and Kamala and Carol together in a frame. To me, it’s only akin to the first Avengers movie and seeing the six of them together in a frame. It’s chill-inducing. They’re so great together, and they all have different histories with another,” he said.
Marvel has unveiled a synopsis for the film, which reads, “Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence, but unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe.”
“When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged neice Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as ‘The Marvels’.”
The Marvels will Feature an Ensemble Cast
Along with Brie Larson, the film will see the return of Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. South Korean star and Parasite actor Park Seo-joon has been cast in an undisclosed role.
The ensemble also includes Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn, Saagar Shaikh as Aamir, Zenobia Shroff as Muneeba, Mohan Kapur as Yusuf, Daniel Ings as Ty-Rone, along with Caroline Simonnet and Jessica Zhou. The Marvels has been directed by Nia DaCosta, who also co-wrote the script along with Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells.
