It’s been more than a year since Reacher arrived on Amazon Prime Video and left audiences awestruck. The action crime series, based on Lee Child’s book series, followed former military policeman Jack Reacher as he fought with dangerous criminals.
Following the success, Amazon renewed the series for a second season in February 2022. Ever since fans have been eagerly waiting for updates on the new season. Here is everything we know about Reacher season 2.
When will Reacher Season 2 Premiere on Prime Video?
Amazon has not yet revealed the release date for Reacher season 2. The filming for the season commenced in September last year. In February 2023, lead star Alan Ritchson announced that the filming had been concluded. The season is now expected to premiere sometime this year.
“I just came off-set. Reacher season two, the last scene is done. As you can see, things got a little crazy. We promised things will be back bigger and better than ever. And we did not lie,” Ritchson said in a video announcement posted by Amazon on February 24.
Earlier in December 2022, Amazon Studios’ Head of Television, Vernon Sanders, had revealed that Reacher season 2 would premiere in 2023. “Season 2 is awesome. And as great as season one was, I think season two delivers beyond that, and I do think there’s a good chance that that show will be back next year,” he said in an interview.
What will Reacher Season 2 be About?
The season will be based on Lee Child’s Bad Luck and Trouble, which is the 11th book in the Jack Reacher book series. It will feature the former policeman going on a new adventure. “From a helicopter high above the empty California desert, a man is sent free-falling into the night. In Chicago, a woman learns that an elite team of ex–army investigators are being hunted down one by one,” reads the storyline of the book.
“And on the streets of Portland, Jack Reacher—soldier, cop, hero—is pulled out of his wandering life by a code that few other people could understand. From the first shocking scenes in Lee Child’s explosive new novel, Jack Reacher is plunged like a knife into the heart of a conspiracy that is killing old friends…and is on its way to something even worse.”
Who will Star in Reacher Season 2?
While Ritchson will surely reprise the titular role, a number of actors from the first season will not return as the show will now follow a new storyline. Apart from Ritchson, Maria Sten will reprise his role as Frances Neagley. Reacher season 2 will now see the entry of Shaun Sipos as David O’Donnell, a member of the 110th Army Unit of special investigators.
Serinda Swan will be seen as special investigator Karla Dixon, Rory Cochrane as private security head Shane Langston and Ferdinand Kingsley as undercover mercenary A.M. The rest of the cast includes Luke Bilyk, Dean McKenzie, Ty Victor Olsson, Josh Blacker, Edsson Morales, Al Sapienza, Domenick Lombardozzi, Andres Collantes, and Shannon Kook-Chun.
