Renowned Jewish Singer Michoel Schnitzler Dies at 62, Cause of Death Explored

Renowned Jewish Singer Michoel Schnitzler has passed away at the age of 62. The singer died on Friday, April 14th, after suffering a massive heart attack in Rockland County in New York.

Michoel Schnitzler Passes Away After a Massive Heart Attack

Schnitzler was in Israel last week to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Pesach. He returned to New York recently and was in the village of Airmont when he suffered a heart attack on Friday afternoon. Hatzalah, a Jewish volunteer emergency medical service, was called to the scene. Paramedics performed CPR and tried to save the singer’s life. But unfortunately, he died shortly after.

Schnitzler had been facing heart ailments for a long time now. He was also admitted to the hospital a number of times owing to his condition. A few years ago, rumors of his death started surfacing on social media. At the time, the singer cleared the air by releasing a statement, “I’m alive, not dead. I still didn’t divide the inheritance,” he joked. Michoel’s two brothers also passed away from a heart attack earlier in the same year.

Schnitzler Launched his First Album in 2000

Born in Berkley, California, Michoel Schnitzler got interested in music at a very young age. He started his career by singing at weddings and Jewish events. In 2000, he released his first album as a recording artist. Over the years, he went on to release 14 more albums and sang over 150 original songs.

Some of his famous songs include Adoni Hamelech, Tov Lehodos, Punim Chadushes, and Unity for Justice. The singer’s official website states that he had been entertaining people for around 35 years. He also collaborated with other artists, including Motti Ilowitz, Lipa Schmeltzer, and Pinky Weber.

Tributes Pour In for the Singer

As soon as the news of Schnitzler’s demise came out, social media was flooded with tributes. “We welcomed shabbos with the bitter news of the untimely passing of my dear cousin and Rebbe of Jewish Chasidic Music Reb Michoel Schnitzler l – Michoel, your music stirred the hearts of many, and you will be remembered forever,” tweeted singer Yoely Lebovits.

“With a heavy heart, we mourn the loss of Michoel Schnitzler, the man, the legend, and the beloved voice of a generation. He had a unique ability to infuse every song he sang with a depth of feeling that spoke to the very soul of his listeners. His legacy will endure as a testament to his unparalleled talent and unwavering dedication to his art and the Jewish people,” wrote Rabbi Chanina Sperlin, Executive Vice President of Crown Heights Jewish Community Council.

A fan also tweeted, “Michoel Schnitzler was a fantastically talented artist. And oh boy did he have his finger on the pulse regarding the corruption in the Hasidic community. He was filled with love for everyone. Will be missed by so many especially those who derived so much comfort from his love.”
